Feedstock sources
We like unusual grades of feedstock and have the flexibility to take them in by ship, rail or road. Important feedstocks include crude oil and gas condensate. We welcome material from small fields and enter long term arrangements through which producers are guaranteed fair product value. Other feedstocks include pipeline interfaces and middle distillate streams sourced globally.

Harwich refinery specialises in very finely cut distillation, with oustanding flexibility to blend a wide range of products, many for speciality markets. It has a world-class laboratory and technical teams applying themselves from feed-stocks, through refining and blending, to finished products. These capabilities allow us to unlock the value in unusual hydrocarbons.
Refined products sold around the world
We produce oil products that go into long term niche markets, including :
- Heating oils for the UK market and differentiated Gas Oils & Straight Run Fuel Oils
- Aromatic solvents for crop protection and fuel additives
- Speciality oils such as drilling fluids, baseoils, printing inks and process oils
- Racing and development fuels
Automotive fluids and traded solvents
We have a market leading European automotive fluids business supplying antifreeze, brake fluid and screen-wash. We also distribute solvents and other chemicals, representing chemical companies in Europe for a number of products.
In all our markets customers buy from us because we are reliable and responsive. Our outstanding technical skills allow customers to sustain leading positions in their markets with confidence.
Sustainability of the business
Petrochem Carless operates in specialist markets. As larger companies streamline, the fields of business open to us widen. We have grown healthily in recent years, despite the general economic climate, and maintain a sound financial position with attractive growth prospects. Our sales are growing towards £400m p.a, based on volumes of approximately 650m litres.
